Types of Treatments
IPL skin rejuvenation
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light.
The bright light with each pulse can be distracting, more than the sensation of the treatment.
The smooth glass surface of the handpiece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. However, an anaesthetic cream is seldom required but can be used.
Each treatment takes about 20 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. You can return to work the same day and resume all your regular activities.
IPL can be combined with other therapies.
Our Alma Lasers Harmony IPL is also used in conjunction with our Ultherapy, Accent RF and Pixel treatment devices to combine therapies for the best results for your skin condition. Especially if your skin damage and ageing require a more robust set of treatment parameters.
Because the treatment is intended to bypass the upper layers of the skin without removing the skin, it is termed a non-ablative treatment. IPL focuses mostly on the dermis or middle layers of the skin.
1. IPL target the cells with the pigment called melanin. The light from the laser damages primarily the area that’s targeted and has little effect on the surrounding areas.
2. What makes it different from lasers is that it produces many wavelengths in each pulse, whereas a laser is one wavelength.
3. Cold gels are used to coll and soothe the treated area.

Some skin rejuvenation facts:

The IPL beam targets colour or melanin in the skin and does not damage the surrounding tissue. This is why there is generally no downtime with this treatment.

Labia Minora

They are usually two flaps of skin either side of the vagina. They act as protective structures for the vagina, clitoris and urinary orifice. The labia minora can vary in size, shape and colour. Labia minora reduction surgery will reduce excess, floppy, or uneven skin.
The labia minora is also known as the inner lips. They can vary in size, shape and colour. Above all, your labia minora is there to protect your vagina and urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of your body) from bacteria. Labia minora reduction surgery will remove excess, floppy, or uneven labia minora, to give you a pleasing look.

Labia Majora

Our surgeons continue to refine their labia majora reduction surgery technique. They reduce the size of the labia majora by excising a crescent-shaped portion of the inner portion of the majora.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Aesthetica surgeons have been trained in clitoral hood reduction surgery. It is a precise procedure that works closely around the clitoris without affecting its functionality.
It can be performed as a stand-alone procedure or as part of a labiaplasty.
Clitoral Hood reduction involves removing excess skin on either side of the clitoris. Most importantly, our advanced techniques do not go near your clitoris or any of the nerves.

Your Labiaplasty Procedure

We prefer to perform our labiaplasty as a surgical day procedure using a local anaesthetic, with or without sedation. It takes about an hour for a labiaplasty.
However, if you feel that’s all too much then a general anaesthetic can be an option. It’s up to you.
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible

Your Recovery

We recommend bed rest for 2-3 days to reduce discomfort and aid healing.
Dr Ashley and your nurse will monitor your recovery through a number of post-operative check-ups and phone calls/texts.
In the first 12-24 hours there will be bleeding and discomfort. You will be given appropriate pain relief and ice to help you through this time.
Swelling can also cause discomfort. It can last up to 4-6 weeks. However, the majority will go down within a fortnight.
Following your ASAP labiaplasty aftercare, usually means you can return to work after 3 -4 days.
Gentle exercise can be resumed after 3 -4 weeks.

How much does labiaplasty cost?

Your labiaplasty cost will be discussed in detail at your first free consultation.

Interesting facts- you are not alone

Labiaplasty statistics

Approximately 39% of women have excessive labia and less than 15% of these women do something about it!
The problem may be :

  • an adolescence problem
  • because of childbirth
  •  resulting from the natural ageing process of our body
  •  caused by trauma resulting in labia enlargement, unevenness, or traumatic tears that affect the size or appearance the labia

This can result in:

  • labia discomfort during intercourse
  • chronic rubbing
  • chaffing while playing a sport or bike riding
  • a pulling sensation
  • vulva pain

Most women simply live with these symptoms. They are not aware that there are options available, or too embarrassed to ask.
This is one of the reasons that the internet has been so helpful for these women.
Labiaplasty has risen from 444 women in 2000 to 1,427 in 2014 in Australia.
(Unfortunately there are no more recent statistics)
