Anti wrinkle injections
Reduce those pesky fine lines
Anti wrinkle injections are muscle designed to prevent the contraction of key muscles.
In cosmetic areas of the face it is ideal for treating
Wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to make repeated facial expressions. After anti wrinkle injections, these muscles are temporarily relaxed so you cannot contract them and continue to make those undesirable facial expressions.
Injectable wrinkle treatments are suitable for both women and men of virtually any age who would like to reduce wrinkles and smooth expression lines and have a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Treatment to reduce wrinkles usually takes 10-20 mins and can be undertaken during a lunch break with no downtime involved.
Anti wrinkle injections are a prescription-only medicine and as such are only available from a Doctor.
After the treatment, it takes 2 to 3 days for the muscle relaxing protein to start taking effect with maximum effect occurring in 7 days.
The effects of the anti-wrinkle injections can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. The effects tend to last longer with regular repeat treatments.
How much do anti wrinkle injections cost?
It is hard to give an accurate estimate without consultation as everyone is different, with different facial features, different requirements, and at different ages.
The depth and length of facial lines and also the strength of a patient’s facial muscles vary greatly, therefore it is impossible to broadly estimate everyone’s requirements.
Other options to consider
Dynamic vs Static wrinkles
Anti wrinkle injections are used to treat expression lines referred to as dynamic wrinkles, they are dynamic because they form when the underlying muscles are contracted and should disappear when the muscles are relaxed.
Repeated facial expressions over time will lead to static wrinkles (wrinkles that don’t disappear when facial muscles are relaxed).
These static wrinkles can be treated with injectable dermal fillers that provide a natural and younger appearance by ‘filling in’ facial wrinkles and folds.
Patients that present for wrinkle treatments can have a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and injectable dermal fillers to achieve their desired results.
Anti wrinkle injection risks
In the amounts used to treat frown lines, the side effects are usually temporary and localized to the area of injection. In the first few hours after treatment, you may experience redness swelling and tenderness in the treated areas. This is normal and resolves quickly.
Other possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning at the injection site and local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids, skin tightness, tingling sensations and nausea.
