Eyelid Surgery Benefits

Welcome to Aesthetica in Melbourne, your trusted destination for enhancing your natural beauty and regaining confidence through advanced cosmetic procedures. In this comprehensive guide, we delve into the intricate world of blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, exploring its benefits, process, recovery, and more.

Restoring Youthful Appearance

One of the primary benefits of blepharoplasty is its ability to restore a youthful and refreshed appearance to the eyes. By addressing concerns such as sagging skin, under-eye bags, and fine lines, blepharoplasty can take years off your appearance and enhance your overall facial harmony.

Improving Vision and Function

For individuals with significant eyelid hooding or ptosis (drooping), blepharoplasty can improve vision by removing excess tissue that obstructs the line of sight. This functional aspect of the procedure not only enhances visual clarity but also contributes to a better quality of life.

Boosting Self-Confidence

Feeling self-conscious about the appearance of your eyelids can take a toll on your self-esteem. Blepharoplasty can help boost your confidence by providing natural-looking results that enhance your features without looking overdone or unnatural.

Eyelid surgery – blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, depending on the individual’s concerns. The surgical technique may involve careful removal of excess skin, fat, or muscle tissue, to achieve optimal results.

Anaesthetic

Blepharoplasty is typically performed using local anaesthesia while you are sedated or general anesthesia, ensuring a comfortable and pain-free experience for the patient.
After the procedure, patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort around the eyes, which can be managed with prescribed medications and cold compresses.

Recovery

Rest is crucial after your procedure.
Here’s what you can expect during the recovery process:

  • Stitches removal: Your stitches will be removed between 5-9 days, depending on your healing progress.
  • Swelling and bruising: If they occur, swelling and bruising may take about a week to subside
  • Final result: You will generally see the full results of your blepharoplasty after 4-6 weeks.
  • Time off work: Due to swelling and bruising, taking a week off work may be advisable.
  • Aftercare treatments: LED sessions can aid in recovery, reduce swelling, and promote the healing of scars.

Blepharoplasty Risks

Discover the facts and considerations surrounding eyelid surgery risks at Aesthetica Image Centre. With over 19 years of experience in Melbourne cosmetic surgery, we understand the importance of providing transparent and honest information.

Like any surgical procedure, eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty carries certain risks and considerations, but not limited to including:

  • Temporary numbness or discomfort around the surgical site
  • Scarring, although incisions are typically hidden within the natural contours of the eyelids
  • Dry eyes, which can occur temporarily due to changes in tear production
  • Difficulty closing the eyes completely, though this is rare and typically resolves with time and proper care

We will discuss these risks, address your concerns during your consultations, and assist you in carefully following the post-operative instructions to minimize complications and achieve optimal results.
