Facial, Spider and Varicose Vein treatments

Visible veins can appear on the face or legs for many reasons, including genetics, ageing, hormonal changes, pregnancy and sun exposure. While many veins are medically harmless, their appearance or associated symptoms can be concerning for some people.

At Aesthetica Image Centre, we offer a range of medical vein treatment options, including sclerotherapy and light-based treatments, following a comprehensive assessment to determine suitability, safety and appropriate care pathways.

Understanding different types of Veins

Not all veins are the same, and treatment options vary depending on vein size, depth, location and underlying venous health.

Facial Veins

Facial veins are usually small, visible veins that may appear on the nose, cheeks or chin. Due to the delicate nature of facial skin and blood vessels, treatment requires careful assessment. In selected cases, medical or light-based vein treatments may be considered.

Spider Veins

Spider veins (also known as thread veins or telangiectasia) are fine red, blue or purple veins commonly seen on the legs. They are superficial and are often treated for cosmetic reasons following appropriate assessment.

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are larger, raised veins that may be associated with aching, heaviness or discomfort. They can indicate underlying venous insufficiency and often require more detailed investigation before vein treatment is recommended.

Vein Treatment Options at Aesthetica

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a well-established medical procedure used to treat certain facial veins, spider veins and selected varicose veins. It involves injecting a specialised solution into the affected vein, causing it to close and gradually fade over time.

Sclerotherapy is not suitable for all vein types. Multiple sessions may be required, and results vary between individuals.

Laser & IPL Vein Treatments

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments use targeted light energy to treat certain superficial veins, particularly small facial veins and fine spider veins.

These treatments may be considered where appropriate and may be used alone or in combination with other medical treatments. Suitability depends on vein type, depth, skin type and individual factors.

Ultrasound-Guided Assessment & Treatment

For larger or symptomatic varicose veins, an ultrasound assessment may be required to evaluate underlying venous function. In some cases, ultrasound-guided treatment approaches or referral to a vascular specialist may be recommended.

This ensures treatment decisions are based on medical assessment rather than appearance alone.

Medical Assessment

Not all veins are suitable for in-clinic treatment. Where appropriate, further investigations or referral to another medical practitioner or specialist may be advised. Your safety and long-term vascular health are always prioritised.

What to Expect From Your Consultation

All vein treatments at Aesthetica begin with a comprehensive medical consultation, which may include:

  • Assessment of the veins and surrounding skin
  • Discussion of symptoms and aesthetic concerns
  • Review of medical history
  • Consideration of treatment and non-treatment options
  • Discussion of risks, limitations and aftercare

This ensures any treatment offered is ethical, appropriate and aligned with medical best practice.

Results & Expectations

Vein treatments do not provide immediate results. Improvements usually develop gradually over weeks to months, and results vary between individuals. While treated veins may fade, vein treatments do not prevent new veins from forming over time.

Specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
