Labiaplasty pricing is rarely a single number — it reflects your individual anatomy, the technique required, the anaesthesia involved, and the facility where surgery takes place. This page is designed to help you understand what typically influences cost, what a proper quote should include, and how Medicare and private health insurance fit in, so you can approach your consultation with realistic expectations.
The cheapest quote is not always the safest one.
Cost should always be weighed alongside your surgeon's qualifications, training and experience. We'd encourage you to request a full itemised breakdown from any provider you're considering, so you're comparing like with like.
What Influences Labiaplasty Cost
- Surgical technique — the trim or wedge method, or a combination approach, affects surgical time and complexity
- Extent of correction required — some patients need minor tissue reduction, others require more significant reshaping or asymmetry correction
- Complexity — prior surgery, scar tissue, or changes related to childbirth can extend operating time
- Anaesthesia — sedation versus general anaesthetic affects anaesthetist fees and, in some cases, facility requirements
- Hospital and facility fees — vary depending on the day hospital and length of stay
- Surgeon's training and experience — fees reflect the surgeon's qualifications and specific experience in the procedure
- Pre-operative assessment — some patients require blood tests or additional assessment depending on medical history
- Post-operative care — follow-up appointments and aftercare are either included in your quote or itemised separately, depending on the provider
Your Quote Breakdown
A proper written quote should clearly itemise each component, so you know exactly what you're paying for:
- Surgeon's fee
- Anaesthetist's fee
- Hospital or facility fee
- Any applicable Medicare or private health insurance rebate
- Post-operative follow-up appointments

At Aesthetica, our surgeon's fee for labiaplasty starts from $7,000. Theatre and anaesthetist fees are calculated separately based on your specific procedure, and the complete, itemised quote is provided in writing following your consultation.
Medicare & Private Health Insurance
Medicare rebates for labiaplasty are the exception, not the rule, and apply only under two specific MBS item numbers:
- Item 35533 — for the surgical repair of female genital mutilation or a major congenital anomaly of the uro-gynaecological tract
- Item 35534 — for a structural abnormality causing significant functional impairment in patients aged 18 or over, specifically where the labium extends more than 8cm below the vaginal introitus while standing
These are narrow clinical criteria, assessed by your surgeon — not something that can be self-diagnosed or assumed prior to assessment. Labiaplasty performed for cosmetic reasons alone, without meeting this documented criteria, is not eligible for a Medicare rebate, and all costs are payable out of pocket.
Private health insurance can only contribute toward hospital-related costs where the procedure meets Medicare's medical criteria above and your policy includes cover for the relevant item number. Coverage varies significantly between funds and policies — if you believe you may meet the criteria, we'd recommend confirming directly with your health fund what's covered and whether any waiting periods apply.

Because labiaplasty is tailored to individual anatomy, an accurate quote depends on assessment first. Anatomy, the technique required, and any complicating factors all affect surgical time and therefore cost — a genuine quote can only be given once your surgeon has assessed your specific situation.
Technique itself doesn't set the price — complexity and surgical time do. Either method may take more or less time depending on your individual anatomy, and this is what's reflected in your quote rather than the technique name itself.
