Why a mineral sunscreen? The main difference between a mineral sunscreen (or physical) and chemical sunscreen is the way they shield the skin from harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays. Mineral sunscreens such as Mineral Pro SPF contain Zinc Oxide which are small particles that sit on the skin’s surface to physical prevent UV rays from absorbing into the skin. In contrast, chemical sunscreens allow the penetration of UV light through the skin. The active ingredients in the sunscreen then initiate a chemical process wherein UV light is transformed into heat, subsequently dissipating from the skin.
